Many people assume an ICF coaching credential means taking a course and sitting an exam. In reality the ACC — the first of the three levels ACC, PCC, MCC — has FIVE separate requirements, and four of them are not an exam.
Understanding this up front matters because it changes how you plan: this is not a two-month project but a journey of many months to over a year, most of it spent coaching real clients.
Each requirement in detail

ICF requirements, application process, fees and policy can change. Note particularly: from 1 January 2027, NEW mentor coaching hours counting toward an ACC, PCC or MCC credential must be delivered by a mentor coach holding the Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS).
