The facilitator's four tasks
Be clear about the role so you can assign it properly.
Four tasks, about four hours a month
- Find and prepare the problem for the next session — usually from a question someone posted
- Message the people with relevant experience individually and invite them
- Run the session to the structure, and keep to time
- Write the outcome up as a short note and file it where it can be found again
The second task decides the quality of the session
A general invitation to the whole group typically produces a session with four attendees. A direct message to three people with the right expertise, saying 'this session is about exactly what you dealt with last week', produces a session where someone can actually answer.
