Presenter vs Facilitator
| Aspect | Presenter | Facilitator |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Source of knowledge, mainly talking | A guide who draws out so learners find it themselves |
| Who talks most | The instructor | The learners |
| Questions | Few, mostly to check | Many, to open thinking |
| Success measured by | Covering all the content | Learners can do it and commit to applying it |
The mantra
"The person talking is the person learning." If you talk the whole session, you're re-learning what you already know while learners watch. The facilitator's goal is to make the LEARNERS think, talk, and do as much as possible.
Key takeaway: A facilitator draws out so learners find it themselves; a presenter just conveys. 'The person talking is the person learning'.
