Solutions anchored in the cause

Each cause a solution — not one dose for all.

Cause (BEM) → solution type

CauseSuitable solution
Lack of skill/knowledgeTraining, coaching, job aids, e-learning
Lack of information/expectationsClarify standards, checklists, periodic feedback, guides
Lack of tools/resourcesProcess improvement, provide tools, automation, reallocate work
Wrong incentives/consequencesAdjust KPIs, tie recognition, change the reward mechanism
Wrong placement/motiveRe-hire/re-place, motivational coaching, redesign the role

Training rarely goes alone

The real solution is usually a PACKAGE: 'train skill X + add a job aid + adjust the KPI'. Training alone is only effective when the cause is PURELY a skill gap — which is rare. A good consultant always prescribes a mixed remedy.

Key takeaway: Each cause a solution; training usually goes with job aids, process, and incentives.
