What to measure and when to grow
Avoid measures that sound good and say nothing.
Measures to avoid and measures to use

| Number of members | People who asked at least one question this quarter |
| Number of posts | Problems worked through that have a note on file |
| Page views | People who reused one of the community's notes |
| Satisfaction score | Work done differently because of the community, confirmed by someone |
Three signs it is ready to grow
At least three people answer regularly without being asked; a note has been found and read by someone who was not in the session; and three consecutive sessions ran on schedule. Missing any one of these, growing will dilute the group.
