Privacy of HR data

Grasp the principles for protecting personal data when using AI.

HR data is sensitive and legally protected (GDPR in Europe; PDPA/Decree 13/2023 on personal data protection in Vietnam). Three core principles: MINIMIZATION (only collect/use data you truly need), CLEAR PURPOSE (only use it for the stated purpose), and SECURITY (don't put sensitive personal data into public AI tools without a confidentiality agreement).

Practical rules when using AI with HR data

  • Anonymize before analysis: remove names, IDs, identifying information
  • Only use company-approved tools for internal data
  • Don't use employee data to 'train' external tools without permission
  • Store the minimum, delete when the purpose ends

Key takeaway: Three data principles: minimization, clear purpose, security; anonymize before analysis.
